  1. Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel, from everlasting even to everlasting. All the people said, “Amen,” and praised the LORD.

  2. So he left there, before the ark of the covenant of the LORD, Asaph and his brothers, to minister before the ark continually, as every day’s work required;

  5. to offer burnt offerings to the LORD on the altar of burnt offering continually morning and evening, even according to all that is written in the LORD’s law, which he commanded to Israel;

  6. and with them Heman and Jeduthun, and the rest who were chosen, who were mentioned by name, to give thanks to the LORD, because his loving kindness endures forever;

  7. and with them Heman and Jeduthun with shofars and cymbals for those that should sound aloud, and with instruments for the songs of God; and the sons of Jeduthun to be at the gate.

  8. The Levites were numbered from thirty years old and upward: and their number by their polls, man by man, was thirty-eight thousand.

  9. four thousand were doorkeepers; and four thousand praised the LORD with the instruments which I made, for giving praise.”

  15. Of Jeduthun; the sons of Jeduthun: Gedaliah, and Zeri, and Jeshaiah, Hashabiah, and Mattithiah, six, under the hands of their father Jeduthun with the harp, who prophesied in giving thanks and praising the LORD.

  16. Of Heman; the sons of Heman: Bukkiah, Mattaniah, Uzziel, Shebuel, and Jerimoth, Hananiah, Hanani, Eliathah, Giddalti, and Romamti-Ezer, Joshbekashah, Mallothi, Hothir, Mahazioth.

  17. All these were the sons of Heman the king’s seer in the words of God, to lift up the horn. God gave to Heman fourteen sons and three daughters.

  18. All these were under the hands of their father for song in the LORD’s house, with cymbals, stringed instruments, and harps, for the service of God’s house; Asaph, Jeduthun, and Heman being under the order of the king.

  19. The number of them, with their brothers who were instructed in singing to the LORD, even all who were skillful, was two hundred eighty-eight.

  20. They cast lots for their offices, all alike, as well the small as the great, the teacher as the scholar.

  21. Now the first lot came out for Asaph to Joseph: the second to Gedaliah; he and his brothers and sons were twelve:
