  1. And sent forth his servants to call them that were bidden to the wedding: and they would not come.

  2. Again, he sent forth other servants, saying, Tell them which are bidden, Behold, I have prepared my dinner: my oxen and my fatlings are killed, and all things are ready: come unto the marriage.

  3. But they made light of it, and went their ways, one to his farm, another to his merchandise:

  9. And love the uppermost rooms at feasts, and the chief seats in the synagogues,

  10. And greetings in the markets, and to be called of men, Rabbi, Rabbi.

  11. But be not ye called Rabbi: for one is your Master, even Christ; and all ye are brethren.

  12. And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven.

  13. And some believed the things which were spoken, and some believed not.

  14. And when they agreed not among themselves, they departed, after that Paul had spoken one word, Well spake the Holy Ghost by Esaias the prophet unto our fathers,

  15. Saying, Go unto this people, and say, Hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and not perceive:

  16. For the heart of this people is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes have they closed; lest they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.

  17. (According as it is written, God hath given them the spirit of slumber, eyes that they should not see, and ears that they should not hear;) unto this day.

  18. And David saith, Let their table be made a snare, and a trap, and a stumblingblock, and a recompence unto them:

  19. Let their eyes be darkened, that they may not see, and bow down their back alway.

  20. ¶ Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip.

  21. For if the word spoken by angels was stedfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompence of reward;

  22. How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him;
