  1. But and if that evil servant shall say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming;

  2. And shall begin to smite his fellowservants, and to eat and drink with the drunken;

  3. The lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looketh not for him, and in an hour that he is not aware of,

  4. And shall cut him asunder, and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

  5. Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us.

  6. But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.

  7. And he thought within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have no room where to bestow my fruits?

  8. And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods.

  9. And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry.

  10. But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided?

  11. Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able.

  12. When once the master of the house is risen up, and hath shut to the door, and ye begin to stand without, and to knock at the door, saying, Lord, Lord, open unto us; and he shall answer and say unto you, I know you not whence ye are:

  13. Then shall ye begin to say, We have eaten and drunk in thy presence, and thou hast taught in our streets.

  14. The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican.

  15. They answered him, We be Abraham's seed, and were never in bondage to any man: how sayest thou, Ye shall be made free?

  16. Ye do the deeds of your father. Then said they to him, We be not born of fornication; we have one Father, even God.

  17. For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.

  18. And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.

  19. And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:

  20. Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain:

  21. And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.

  22. Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:
