  1. Yea, ten acres of vineyard shall yield one bath, and the seed of an homer shall yield an ephah.

  2. Doth the plowman plow all day to sow? doth he open and break the clods of his ground?

  3. When he hath made plain the face thereof, doth he not cast abroad the fitches, and scatter the cummin, and cast in the principal wheat and the appointed barley and the rie in their place?

  4. Blessed are ye that sow beside all waters, that send forth thither the feet of the ox and the ass.

  5. For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater:

  7. Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground: for it is time to seek the LORD, till he come and rain righteousness upon you.

  8. That which the palmerworm hath left hath the locust eaten; and that which the locust hath left hath the cankerworm eaten; and that which the cankerworm hath left hath the caterpiller eaten.

  9. The seed is rotten under their clods, the garners are laid desolate, the barns are broken down; for the corn is withered.

  10. Ye have sown much, and bring in little; ye eat, but ye have not enough; ye drink, but ye are not filled with drink; ye clothe you, but there is none warm; and he that earneth wages earneth wages to put it into a bag with holes.

  11. And I will sow them among the people: and they shall remember me in far countries; and they shall live with their children, and turn again.

  12. Behold, I will corrupt your seed, and spread dung upon your faces, even the dung of your solemn feasts; and one shall take you away with it.

  13. And he spake many things unto them in parables, saying, Behold, a sower went forth to sow;

  14. And when he sowed, some seeds fell by the way side, and the fowls came and devoured them up:

  15. Some fell upon stony places, where they had not much earth: and forthwith they sprung up, because they had no deepness of earth:

  16. And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprung up, and choked them:

  17. But he that received seed into the good ground is he that heareth the word, and understandeth it; which also beareth fruit, and bringeth forth, some an hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.

  18. Which indeed is the least of all seeds: but when it is grown, it is the greatest among herbs, and becometh a tree, so that the birds of the air come and lodge in the branches thereof.

  19. Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God.

  20. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit.

  21. If we have sown unto you spiritual things, is it a great thing if we shall reap your carnal things?

  22. Thou fool, that which thou sowest is not quickened, except it die:

  23. And that which thou sowest, thou sowest not that body that shall be, but bare grain, it may chance of wheat, or of some other grain:

  24. But God giveth it a body as it hath pleased him, and to every seed his own body.

  25. ¶ But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully.
