  1. To judge the fatherless and the oppressed, that the man of the earth may no more oppress.

  2. For the oppression of the poor, for the sighing of the needy, now will I arise, saith the LORD; I will set him in safety from him that puffeth at him.

  10. ¶ The Lord at thy right hand shall strike through kings in the day of his wrath.

  11. ¶ He that justifieth the wicked, and he that condemneth the just, even they both are abomination to the LORD.

  12. ¶ Also to punish the just is not good, nor to strike princes for equity.

  13. ¶ As a roaring lion, and a ranging bear; so is a wicked ruler over the poor people.

  14. ¶ The prince that wanteth understanding is also a great oppressor: but he that hateth covetousness shall prolong his days.

  15. ¶ When the wicked rise, men hide themselves: but when they perish, the righteous increase.

  16. ¶ When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn.

  17. ¶ The king by judgment establisheth the land: but he that receiveth gifts overthroweth it.

  18. ¶ If a ruler hearken to lies, all his servants are wicked.

  19. For three things the earth is disquieted, and for four which it cannot bear:

  20. For a servant when he reigneth; and a fool when he is filled with meat;

  21. ¶ And moreover I saw under the sun the place of judgment, that wickedness was there; and the place of righteousness, that iniquity was there.

  22. I said in mine heart, God shall judge the righteous and the wicked: for there is a time there for every purpose and for every work.

  23. ¶ So I returned, and considered all the oppressions that are done under the sun: and behold the tears of such as were oppressed, and they had no comforter; and on the side of their oppressors there was power; but they had no comforter.

  24. ¶ Better is a poor and a wise child than an old and foolish king, who will no more be admonished.

  25. For out of prison he cometh to reign; whereas also he that is born in his kingdom becometh poor.
