  1. And if any mischief follow, then thou shalt give life for life,

  2. Eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot,

  3. Burning for burning, wound for wound, stripe for stripe.

  4. Thou shalt not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of thy people, but thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself: I am the LORD.

  5. And he that killeth any man shall surely be put to death.

  6. And he that killeth a beast shall make it good; beast for beast.

  7. And if a man cause a blemish in his neighbour; as he hath done, so shall it be done to him;

  8. Breach for breach, eye for eye, tooth for tooth: as he hath caused a blemish in a man, so shall it be done to him again.

  9. And he that killeth a beast, he shall restore it: and he that killeth a man, he shall be put to death.

  10. Ye shall have one manner of law, as well for the stranger, as for one of your own country: for I am the LORD your God.

  11. Then shall ye do unto him, as he had thought to have done unto his brother: so shalt thou put the evil away from among you.

  12. And those which remain shall hear, and fear, and shall henceforth commit no more any such evil among you.

  13. And thine eye shall not pity; but life shall go for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot.

  14. The wicked in his pride doth persecute the poor: let them be taken in the devices that they have imagined.

  15. ¶ Say not thou, I will recompense evil; but wait on the LORD, and he shall save thee.

  16. Say not, I will do so to him as he hath done to me: I will render to the man according to his work.

  17. ¶ Whoso diggeth a pit shall fall therein: and he that rolleth a stone, it will return upon him.

  18. ¶ Woe to thee that spoilest, and thou wast not spoiled; and dealest treacherously, and they dealt not treacherously with thee! when thou shalt cease to spoil, thou shalt be spoiled; and when thou shalt make an end to deal treacherously, they shall deal treacherously with thee.

  19. Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth:

  20. But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.

  21. And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloke also.

  22. And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain.

  23. Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away.

  24. Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy.

  25. But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;
