  1. ¶ Behold, happy is the man whom God correcteth: therefore despise not thou the chastening of the Almighty:

  2. ¶ Surely it is meet to be said unto God, I have borne chastisement, I will not offend any more:

  3. Stand in awe, and sin not: commune with your own heart upon your bed, and be still. Selah.

  4. Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.

  5. My son, despise not the chastening of the LORD; neither be weary of his correction:

  14. ¶ Do all things without murmurings and disputings:

  15. Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.

  16. I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.

  17. I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

  18. Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness;

  19. That no man should be moved by these afflictions: for yourselves know that we are appointed thereunto.

  20. Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.

  21. But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.

  22. For ye had compassion of me in my bonds, and took joyfully the spoiling of your goods, knowing in yourselves that ye have in heaven a better and an enduring substance.

  23. For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.

  24. ¶ Ye have not yet resisted unto blood, striving against sin.

  25. And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him:
