  1. Saying, Did not we straitly command you that ye should not teach in this name? and, behold, ye have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine, and intend to bring this man's blood upon us.

  10. After this man rose up Judas of Galilee in the days of the taxing, and drew away much people after him: he also perished; and all, even as many as obeyed him, were dispersed.

  11. And now I say unto you, Refrain from these men, and let them alone: for if this counsel or this work be of men, it will come to nought:

  12. But if it be of God, ye cannot overthrow it; lest haply ye be found even to fight against God.

  13. And to him they agreed: and when they had called the apostles, and beaten them, they commanded that they should not speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go.

  14. And they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for his name.

  15. And daily in the temple, and in every house, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ.

  16. ¶ Now when the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John:

  17. Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost:

  18. (For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.)

  19. Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost.

  20. And when Simon saw that through laying on of the apostles' hands the Holy Ghost was given, he offered them money,

  21. Saying, Give me also this power, that on whomsoever I lay hands, he may receive the Holy Ghost.

  22. But Peter said unto him, Thy money perish with thee, because thou hast thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money.

  23. Thou hast neither part nor lot in this matter: for thy heart is not right in the sight of God.

  24. Repent therefore of this thy wickedness, and pray God, if perhaps the thought of thine heart may be forgiven thee.

  25. For I perceive that thou art in the gall of bitterness, and in the bond of iniquity.
