  1. ¶ And Jesus, walking by the sea of Galilee, saw two brethren, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers.

  2. And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.

  3. And they straightway left their nets, and followed him.

  4. ¶ And when Jesus was come into Peter's house, he saw his wife's mother laid, and sick of a fever.

  9. And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?

  10. And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.

  11. And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.

  12. And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

  13. And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

  14. Peter answered and said unto him, Though all men shall be offended because of thee, yet will I never be offended.

  15. Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, That this night, before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice.

  16. Peter said unto him, Though I should die with thee, yet will I not deny thee. Likewise also said all the disciples.

  17. And, behold, one of them which were with Jesus stretched out his hand, and drew his sword, and struck a servant of the high priest's, and smote off his ear.

  18. But Peter followed him afar off unto the high priest's palace, and went in, and sat with the servants, to see the end.

  19. ¶ Now Peter sat without in the palace: and a damsel came unto him, saying, Thou also wast with Jesus of Galilee.

  20. But he denied before them all, saying, I know not what thou sayest.

  21. And when he was gone out into the porch, another maid saw him, and said unto them that were there, This fellow was also with Jesus of Nazareth.

  22. And again he denied with an oath, I do not know the man.

  23. And after a while came unto him they that stood by, and said to Peter, Surely thou also art one of them; for thy speech bewrayeth thee.

  24. Then began he to curse and to swear, saying, I know not the man. And immediately the cock crew.

  25. And Peter remembered the word of Jesus, which said unto him, Before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice. And he went out, and wept bitterly.
