  1. (For from my youth he was brought up with me, as with a father, and I have guided her from my mother's womb;)

  3. Thou hast seen it; for thou beholdest mischief and spite, to requite it with thy hand: the poor committeth himself unto thee; thou art the helper of the fatherless.

  11. ¶ Remove not the old landmark; and enter not into the fields of the fatherless:

  12. For their redeemer is mighty; he shall plead their cause with thee.

  13. Learn to do well; seek judgment, relieve the oppressed, judge the fatherless, plead for the widow.

  14. Thy princes are rebellious, and companions of thieves: every one loveth gifts, and followeth after rewards: they judge not the fatherless, neither doth the cause of the widow come unto them.

  15. ¶ Woe unto them that decree unrighteous decrees, and that write grievousness which they have prescribed;

  16. To turn aside the needy from judgment, and to take away the right from the poor of my people, that widows may be their prey, and that they may rob the fatherless!

  17. They are waxen fat, they shine: yea, they overpass the deeds of the wicked: they judge not the cause, the cause of the fatherless, yet they prosper; and the right of the needy do they not judge.

  18. If ye oppress not the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow, and shed not innocent blood in this place, neither walk after other gods to your hurt:

  19. Then will I cause you to dwell in this place, in the land that I gave to your fathers, for ever and ever.

  20. Thus saith the LORD; Execute ye judgment and righteousness, and deliver the spoiled out of the hand of the oppressor: and do no wrong, do no violence to the stranger, the fatherless, nor the widow, neither shed innocent blood in this place.

  21. Leave thy fatherless children, I will preserve them alive; and let thy widows trust in me.

  22. Asshur shall not save us; we will not ride upon horses: neither will we say any more to the work of our hands, Ye are our gods: for in thee the fatherless findeth mercy.

  23. And I will come near to you to judgment; and I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers, and against the adulterers, and against false swearers, and against those that oppress the hireling in his wages, the widow, and the fatherless, and that turn aside the stranger from his right, and fear not me, saith the LORD of hosts.

  24. Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.
