  1. Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

  2. Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.

  3. ¶ Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted.

  4. ¶ I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called,

  5. ¶ With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love;

  6. ¶ Do all things without murmurings and disputings:

  7. That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world;

  8. ¶ Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;

  9. Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.

  10. Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men.

  11. See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men.

  12. And the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God, and into the patient waiting for Christ.

  13. A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach;

  14. Not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre; but patient, not a brawler, not covetous;

  15. But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.

  16. Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.

  17. And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient,

  18. In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;

  19. That the aged men be sober, grave, temperate, sound in faith, in charity, in patience.

  20. Exhort servants to be obedient unto their own masters, and to please them well in all things; not answering again;

  21. To speak evil of no man, to be no brawlers, but gentle, shewing all meekness unto all men.

  22. For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise.

  23. Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:

  24. But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.

  25. ¶ Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:
