  1. ¶ To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. Blessed is he that considereth the poor: the LORD will deliver him in time of trouble.

  2. The LORD will preserve him, and keep him alive; and he shall be blessed upon the earth: and thou wilt not deliver him unto the will of his enemies.

  3. The LORD will strengthen him upon the bed of languishing: thou wilt make all his bed in his sickness.

  10. So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine.

  11. ¶ There is that scattereth, and yet increaseth; and there is that withholdeth more than is meet, but it tendeth to poverty.

  12. ¶ The liberal soul shall be made fat: and he that watereth shall be watered also himself.

  13. ¶ Cast thy bread upon the waters: for thou shalt find it after many days.

  14. Give a portion to seven, and also to eight; for thou knowest not what evil shall be upon the earth.

  15. Consider now from this day and upward, from the four and twentieth day of the ninth month, even from the day that the foundation of the LORD'S temple was laid, consider it.

  16. Is the seed yet in the barn? yea, as yet the vine, and the fig tree, and the pomegranate, and the olive tree, hath not brought forth: from this day will I bless you.

  17. Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.

  18. And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the LORD of hosts.

  19. And all nations shall call you blessed: for ye shall be a delightsome land, saith the LORD of hosts.

  20. Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven.

  21. Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

  22. But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth:

  23. That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly.

  24. Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me.

  25. But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions.
