  1. ¶ Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;

  2. Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.

  3. And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness.

  4. And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.

  5. For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication:

  6. That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour;

  7. Abstain from all appearance of evil.

  8. ¶ And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

  12. And their word will eat as doth a canker: of whom is Hymenaeus and Philetus;

  13. If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work.

  14. ¶ Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

  15. Exhort servants to be obedient unto their own masters, and to please them well in all things; not answering again;

  16. Not purloining, but shewing all good fidelity; that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Saviour in all things.

  17. Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:

  18. Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled;

  19. As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance:

  20. But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation;

  21. Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.

  22. Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;

  23. Having your conversation honest among the Gentiles: that, whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they shall behold, glorify God in the day of visitation.

  24. ¶ Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin;

  25. That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God.
