  1. I will not reprove thee for thy sacrifices or thy burnt offerings, to have been continually before me.

  2. I will take no bullock out of thy house, nor he goats out of thy folds.

  3. For every beast of the forest is mine, and the cattle upon a thousand hills.

  4. I know all the fowls of the mountains: and the wild beasts of the field are mine.

  10. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.

  11. ¶ I will praise the name of God with a song, and will magnify him with thanksgiving.

  12. This also shall please the LORD better than an ox or bullock that hath horns and hoofs.

  13. To what purpose is the multitude of your sacrifices unto me? saith the LORD: I am full of the burnt offerings of rams, and the fat of fed beasts; and I delight not in the blood of bullocks, or of lambs, or of he goats.

  14. When ye come to appear before me, who hath required this at your hand, to tread my courts?

  15. Bring no more vain oblations; incense is an abomination unto me; the new moons and sabbaths, the calling of assemblies, I cannot away with; it is iniquity, even the solemn meeting.

  16. Your new moons and your appointed feasts my soul hateth: they are a trouble unto me; I am weary to bear them.

  17. And when ye spread forth your hands, I will hide mine eyes from you: yea, when ye make many prayers, I will not hear: your hands are full of blood.

  18. Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men:

  19. Therefore, behold, I will proceed to do a marvellous work among this people, even a marvellous work and a wonder: for the wisdom of their wise men shall perish, and the understanding of their prudent men shall be hid.

  20. Woe unto them that seek deep to hide their counsel from the LORD, and their works are in the dark, and they say, Who seeth us? and who knoweth us?

  21. Surely your turning of things upside down shall be esteemed as the potter's clay: for shall the work say of him that made it, He made me not? or shall the thing framed say of him that framed it, He had no understanding?

  22. ¶ I hate, I despise your feast days, and I will not smell in your solemn assemblies.

  23. Though ye offer me burnt offerings and your meat offerings, I will not accept them: neither will I regard the peace offerings of your fat beasts.

  24. Take thou away from me the noise of thy songs; for I will not hear the melody of thy viols.

  25. ¶ Wherewith shall I come before the LORD, and bow myself before the high God? shall I come before him with burnt offerings, with calves of a year old?
