  1. Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain: for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.

  2. Keep the sabbath day to sanctify it, as the LORD thy God hath commanded thee.

  3. Six days thou shalt labour, and do all thy work:

  4. But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, nor thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thine ox, nor thine ass, nor any of thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates; that thy manservant and thy maidservant may rest as well as thou.

  5. And remember that thou wast a servant in the land of Egypt, and that the LORD thy God brought thee out thence through a mighty hand and by a stretched out arm: therefore the LORD thy God commanded thee to keep the sabbath day.

  6. Honour thy father and thy mother, as the LORD thy God hath commanded thee; that thy days may be prolonged, and that it may go well with thee, in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.

  7. Thou shalt not kill.

  8. Neither shalt thou commit adultery.

  9. Neither shalt thou steal.

  10. Neither shalt thou bear false witness against thy neighbour.

  11. Neither shalt thou desire thy neighbour's wife, neither shalt thou covet thy neighbour's house, his field, or his manservant, or his maidservant, his ox, or his ass, or any thing that is thy neighbour's.

  12. ¶ Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD:

  13. And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.

  14. And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart:

  15. And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.

  16. And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes.

  17. And thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house, and on thy gates.

  18. ¶ Therefore shall ye lay up these my words in your heart and in your soul, and bind them for a sign upon your hand, that they may be as frontlets between your eyes.

  19. And ye shall teach them your children, speaking of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.

  20. And thou shalt write them upon the door posts of thine house, and upon thy gates:

  21. That your days may be multiplied, and the days of your children, in the land which the LORD sware unto your fathers to give them, as the days of heaven upon the earth.

  22. And he said unto them, Set your hearts unto all the words which I testify among you this day, which ye shall command your children to observe to do, all the words of this law.

  23. For it is not a vain thing for you; because it is your life: and through this thing ye shall prolong your days in the land, whither ye go over Jordan to possess it.

  24. ¶ Then Joshua built an altar unto the LORD God of Israel in mount Ebal,

  25. As Moses the servant of the LORD commanded the children of Israel, as it is written in the book of the law of Moses, an altar of whole stones, over which no man hath lift up any iron: and they offered thereon burnt offerings unto the LORD, and sacrificed peace offerings.
