  1. Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:

  2. For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

  3. Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:

  4. Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;

  5. To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.

  6. Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith.

  7. Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.

  8. Is he the God of the Jews only? is he not also of the Gentiles? Yes, of the Gentiles also:

  9. Seeing it is one God, which shall justify the circumcision by faith, and uncircumcision through faith.

  10. Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law.

  11. And if some of the branches be broken off, and thou, being a wild olive tree, wert graffed in among them, and with them partakest of the root and fatness of the olive tree;

  12. Boast not against the branches. But if thou boast, thou bearest not the root, but the root thee.

  13. Thou wilt say then, The branches were broken off, that I might be graffed in.

  14. Well; because of unbelief they were broken off, and thou standest by faith. Be not highminded, but fear:

  15. For if God spared not the natural branches, take heed lest he also spare not thee.

  16. ¶ For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect.

  17. For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.

  18. For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.

  19. Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?

  20. For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.

  21. For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom:

  22. But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness;

  23. But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.

  24. Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men.

  25. For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called:
