¶ The discretion of a man deferreth his anger; and it is his glory to pass over a transgression.
¶ The king's wrath is as the roaring of a lion; but his favour is as dew upon the grass.
¶ Make no friendship with an angry man; and with a furious man thou shalt not go:
Lest thou learn his ways, and get a snare to thy soul.
¶ A stone is heavy, and the sand weighty; but a fool's wrath is heavier than them both.
Wrath is cruel, and anger is outrageous; but who is able to stand before envy?
¶ Scornful men bring a city into a snare: but wise men turn away wrath.
¶ If a wise man contendeth with a foolish man, whether he rage or laugh, there is no rest.
Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,
Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
¶ Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:
For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.
