  1. For doutlesse, against thine holy Sonne Iesus, whome thou haddest anoynted, both Herod and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles and the people of Israel gathered themselues together,

  2. And laide hands on the Apostles, and put them in the common prison.

  9. And though they found no cause of death in him, yet desired they Pilate to kill him.

  10. And when they had fulfilled all things that were written of him, they tooke him downe from the tree, and put him in a sepulchre.

  11. But the Iewes stirred certaine deuoute and honourable women, and the chiefe men of the citie, and raised persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and expelled them out of their coastes.

  12. And when there was an assault made both of the Gentiles, and of the Iewes with their rulers, to doe them violence, and to stone them,

  13. And when they had beaten them sore, they cast them into prison, commaunding the Iayler to keepe them surely.

  14. And I persecuted this way vnto the death, binding and deliuering into prison both men and women.

  15. I also verely thought in my selfe, that I ought to doe many contrarie things against the Name of Iesus of Nazareth.

  16. Which thing I also did in Hierusalem: for many of the Saints I shut vp in prison, hauing receiued authoritie of the hie Priests, and when they were put to death, I gaue my sentence.

  17. And I punished them throughout all the Synagogues, and compelled them to blaspheme, and being more mad against them, I persecuted them, euen vnto strange cities.

  18. Who shall separate vs from the loue of Christ? shall tribulation or anguish, or persecution, or famine, or nakednesse, or perill, or sworde?

  19. Blesse them which persecute you: blesse, I say, and curse not.

  20. And labour, working with our owne handes: we are reuiled, and yet we blesse: we are persecuted, and suffer it.

  21. If in this life onely wee haue hope in Christ, we are of all men the most miserable.

  22. If I haue fought with beastes at Ephesus after ye maner of men, what aduantageth it me, if the dead be not raised vp? let vs eate and drinke: for to morowe we shall die.

  23. Who deliuered vs from so great a death, and doeth deliuer vs: in whom we trust, that yet hereafter he will deliuer vs,

  24. We are persecuted, but not forsaken: cast downe, but we perish not.

  25. But as then hee that was borne after the flesh, persecuted him that was borne after the Spirit, euen so it is nowe.
