  1. Blessed be the man that trusteth in the Lord, and the Lord shall be his confidence.

  2. And he shall be as a tree that is planted by the waters, that spreadeth out its roots towards moisture: and it shall not fear when the heat cometh. And the leaf thereof shall be green, and in the time of drought it shall not be solicitous, neither shall it cease at any time to bring forth fruit.

  3. Therefore I say to you, be not solicitous for your life, what you shall eat, nor for your body, what you shall put on. Is not the life more than the meat: and the body more than the raiment?

  4. Behold the birds of the air, for they neither sow, nor do they reap, nor gather into barns: and your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are not you of much more value than they?

  5. And which of you by taking thought, can add to his stature one cubit?

  6. And for raiment why are you solicitous? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they labour not, neither do they spin.

  7. But I say to you, that not even Solomon in all his glory was arrayed as one of these.

  8. And if the grass of the field, which is to day, and to morrow is cast into the oven, God doth so clothe: how much more you, O ye of little faith?

  9. Be not solicitous therefore, saying: What shall we eat: or what shall we drink, or wherewith shall we be clothed?

  10. For after all these things do the heathens seek. For your Father knoweth that you have need of all these things.

  11. Seek ye therefore first the kingdom of God, and his justice, and all these things shall be added unto you.

  12. Be not therefore solicitous for to morrow; for the morrow will be solicitous for itself. Sufficient for the day is the evil thereof.

  13. And he said to his disciples: Therefore I say to you: Be not solicitous for your life, what you shall eat, nor for your body, what you shall put on.

  14. The life is more than the meat: and the body is more than the raiment.

  15. Consider the ravens, for they sow not, neither do they reap, neither have they storehouse nor barn, and God feedeth them. How much are you more valuable than they?

  16. And which of you by taking thought can add to his stature one cubit?

  17. If then ye be not able to do so much as the least thing, why are you solicitous for the rest?

  18. Consider the lilies, how they grow: they labour not, neither do they spin. But I say to you, not even Solomon in all his glory was clothed like one of these.

  19. Now, if God clothe in this manner the grass that is to-day in the field and to-morrow is cast into the oven: how much more you, O ye of little faith?

  20. And seek not what you shall eat or what you shall drink: and be not lifted up on high.

  21. For all these things do the nations of the world seek. But your Father knoweth that you have need of these things.

  22. But seek ye first the kingdom of God and his justice: and all these things shall be added unto you.

  23. Fear not, little flock, for it hath pleased your Father to give you a kingdom.

  24. And they began all at once to make excuse. The first said to him: I have bought a farm and I must needs go out and see it. I pray thee, hold me excused.

  25. And another said: I have bought five yoke of oxen and I go to try them. I pray thee, hold me excused.
