  1. For to this end Christ died and rose again: that he might be Lord both of the dead and of the living.

  2. But thou, why judgest thou thy brother? Or thou, why dost thou despise thy brother? For we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ.

  3. For it is written: As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me and every tongue shall confess to God.

  4. Therefore every one of us shall render account to God for himself.

  5. Let us not therefore judge one another any more. But judge this rather, that you put not a stumblingblock or a scandal in your brother's way.

  6. I know, and am confident in the Lord Jesus, that nothing is unclean of itself: but to him that esteemeth any thing to be unclean, to him it is unclean.

  7. For if, because of thy meat, thy brother be grieved, thou walkest not now according to charity. Destroy not him with thy meat, for whom Christ died.

  8. But to me it is a very small thing to be judged by you or by man's day. But neither do I judge my own self.

  9. For I am not conscious to myself of anything. Yet am I not hereby justified: but he that judgeth me is the Lord.

  10. Therefore, judge not before the time: until the Lord come, who both will bring to light the hidden things of darkness and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts. And then shall every man have praise from God.

  11. For who distinguisheth thee? Or what hast thou that thou hast not received, and if thou hast received, why dost thou glory, as if thou hadst not received it?

  12. If I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.

  13. And if I should have prophecy and should know all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I should have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.

  14. And if I should distribute all my goods to feed the poor, and if I should deliver my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.

  15. Charity is patient, is kind: charity envieth not, dealeth not perversely, is not puffed up,

  16. Is not ambitious, seeketh not her own, is not provoked to anger, thinketh no evil:

  17. Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth with the truth:

  18. Detract not one another, my brethren. He that detracteth his brother, or he that judgeth his brother, detracteth the law and judgeth the law. But if thou judge the law, thou art not a doer of the law, but a judge.

  19. There is one lawgiver and judge, that is able to destroy and to deliver.
