  1. To appoint to the mourners of Sion, and to give them a crown for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, a garment of praise for the spirit of grief: and they shall be called in it the mighty ones of justice, the planting of the Lord to glorify him.

  2. And they shall call them, The holy people, the redeemed of the Lord. But thou shalt be called: A city sought after, and not forsaken.

  3. And you, O children of Sion, rejoice, and be joyful in the Lord your God: because he hath given you a teacher of justice, and he will make the early and the latter rain to come down to you as in the beginning.

  12. But love ye your enemies: do good, and lend, hoping for nothing thereby: and your reward shall be great, and you shall be the sons of the Highest. For he is kind to the unthankful and to the evil.

  13. Who answering, said to them: My mother and my brethren are they who hear the word of God and do it.

  14. And the lord commended the unjust steward, forasmuch as he had done wisely: for the children of this world are wiser in their generation than the children of light.

  15. Neither can they die any more for they are equal to the angels and are the children of God, being the children of the resurrection.

  16. But as many as received him, he gave them power to be made the sons of God, to them that believe in his name.

  17. Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed him: If you continue in my word, you shall be my disciples indeed.

  18. Amen, amen, I say to you: He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold but climbeth up another way, the same is a thief and a robber.

  19. But he that entereth in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep.

  20. To him the porter openeth: and the sheep hear his voice. And he calleth his own sheep by name and leadeth them out.

  21. And when he hath let out his own sheep, he goeth before them: and the sheep follow him, because they know his voice.

  22. But a stranger they follow not, but fly from him, because they know not the voice of strangers.

  23. This proverb Jesus spoke to them. But they understood not what he spoke.

  24. Jesus therefore said to them again: Amen, amen, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep.

  25. All others, as many as have come, are thieves and robbers: and the sheep heard them not.
