And he appointed Levites to minister before the ark of the Lord, and to remember his works, and to glorify, and praise the Lord God of Israel.
In that day David made Asaph the chief to give praise to the Lord with his brethren.
And the Levites are to stand in the morning to give thanks, and to sing praises to the Lord: and in like manner in the evening,
And Ezechias appointed companies of the priests, and the Levites, by their courses, every man in his own office, to wit, both of the priests, and of the Levites, for holocausts, and for peace offerings, to minister, and to praise, and to sing in the gates of the camp of the Lord.
And Mathania the son of Micha, the son of Zebedei, the son of Asaph, was the principal man to praise, and to give glory in prayer, and Becbecia, the second, one of his brethren, and Abda the son of Samua, the son of Galal, the son of Idithun.
Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation, and strengthen me with a perfect spirit.
The Lord hath reigned, he is clothed with beauty: the Lord is clothed with strength, and hath girded himself. For he hath established the world which shall not be moved.
At that time Jesus answered and said: I confess to thee, O Father, Lord of Heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them to little ones.
And taking the chalice, he gave thanks and gave to them, saying: Drink ye all of this.
The Pharisee standing, prayed thus with himself: O God, I give thee thanks that I am not as the rest of men, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, as also is this publican.
They took therefore the stone away. And Jesus lifting up his eyes, said: Father, I give thee thanks that thou hast heard me.
Because that, when they knew God, they have not glorified him as God or given thanks: but became vain in their thoughts. And their foolish heart was darkened.
Be nothing solicitous: but in every thing, by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your petitions be made known to God.
Be instant in prayer: watching in it with thanksgiving.
I desire therefore, first of all, that supplications, prayers, intercessions and thanksgivings be made for all men:
I give thanks to God, whom I serve from my forefathers, with a pure conscience, that without ceasing I have a remembrance of thee in my prayers, night and day.
I give thanks to my God, always making a remembrance of thee in my prayers.
By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise always to God, that is to say, the fruit of lips confessing to his name.
And when those living creatures gave glory and honour and benediction to him that sitteth on the throne, who liveth for ever and ever:
And all the angels stood round about the throne and the ancients and the four living creatures. And they fell down before the throne upon their faces and adored God,
Saying: Amen. Benediction and glory and wisdom and thanksgiving, honour and power and strength, to our God, for ever and ever. Amen.
And the four and twenty ancients who sit on their seats in the sight of God, fell on their faces and adored God, saying:
We give thee thanks, O Lord God Almighty, who art and who wast and who art to come: because thou hast taken to thee thy great power, and thou hast reigned.
