  1. And the Lord said to Cain: Where is thy brother Abel? And he answered: I know not: am I my brother's keeper?

  16. Jesus saith to him: If thou wilt be perfect, go sell what thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me.

  17. And when the young man had heard this word, he went away sad: for he had great possessions.

  18. And if you love them that love you, what thanks are to you? For sinners also love those that love them.

  19. And if you do good to them who do good to you, what thanks are to you? For sinners also do this.

  20. And if you lend to them of whom you hope to receive, what thanks are to you? For sinners also lend to sinners, for to receive as much.

  21. For if, because of thy meat, thy brother be grieved, thou walkest not now according to charity. Destroy not him with thy meat, for whom Christ died.

  22. Now, we that are stronger ought to bear the infirmities of the weak and not to please ourselves.

  23. Let every one of you Please his neighbour unto good, to edification.

  24. For Christ did not please himself: but, as it is written: The reproaches of them that reproached thee fell upon me.

  25. Let no man seek his own, but that which is another's.
