Bible Verses About Sadducees
Key Bible Verses
And the second took her and died: and neither did he leave any issue. And the third in like manner.
And the seven all took her in like manner and did not leave issue. Last of all the woman also died.
In the resurrection therefore, when they shall rise again, whose wife shall she be of them? For the seven had her to wife.
And Jesus answering, saith to them: Do ye not therefore err, because you know not the scriptures nor the power of God?
For when they shall rise again from the dead, they shall neither marry, nor be married, but are as the angels in heaven.
And as concerning the dead that they rise again have you not read in the book of Moses, how in the bush God spoke to him, saying: I am the God of Abraham and the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob?
He is not the God of the dead, but of the living. You therefore do greatly err.
He said therefore to the multitudes that went forth to be baptized by him: Ye offspring of vipers, who hath shewed you to flee from the wrath to come?
Bring forth therefore fruits worthy of penance: and do not begin to say, We have Abraham for our father. For I say unto you that God is able of these stones, to raise up children to Abraham.
For now the axe is laid to the root of the trees. Every tree therefore that bringeth not forth good fruit shall be cut down and cast into the fire.
And there came to him some of the Sadducees, who deny that there is any resurrection: and they asked him,
Saying: Master, Moses wrote unto us: If any man's brother die, having a wife, and he leave no children, that his brother should take her to wife and raise up seed unto his brother.
There were therefore seven brethren: and the first took a wife and died without children.
And the next took her to wife: and he also died childless.
And the third took her. And in like manner, all the seven: and they left no children and died.
Last of all the woman died also.
In the resurrection therefore, whose wife of them shall she be? For all the seven had her to wife.
And Jesus said to them: The children of this world marry and are given in marriage:
But they that shall be accounted worthy of that world and of the resurrection from the dead shall neither be married nor take wives.
Neither can they die any more for they are equal to the angels and are the children of God, being the children of the resurrection.
Now that the dead rise again, Moses also shewed at the bush, when he called the Lord: The God of Abraham and the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob.
For he is not the God of the dead, but of the living: for all live to him.
And some of the scribes answering, said to him: Master, thou hast said well.
And after that they durst not ask him any more questions.
And as they were speaking to the people the priests and the officer of the temple and the Sadducees came upon them,
