  1. The Lord said to him: Who made man's mouth? or who made the dumb and the deaf, the seeing and the blind? did not I?

  2. Thou shalt not adore them, nor serve them: I am the Lord thy God, mighty, jealous, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me:

  3. For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, and the sea, and all things that are in them, and rested on the seventh day: therefore the Lord blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it.

  12. How many are my iniquities and sins? make me know my crimes and offenses.

  13. Why hidest thou thy face, and thinkest me thy enemy?

  14. Against a leaf, that is carried away with the wind, thou shewest thy power, and thou pursuest a dry straw.

  15. For thou writest bitter things against me, and wilt consume me for the sins of my youth.

  16. Thou hast put my feet in the stocks, and hast observed all my paths, and hast considered the steps of my feet:

  17. Who am to be consumed as rottenness, and as a garment that is motheaten.

  18. Have confidence in the Lord with all thy heart, and lean not upon thy own prudence.

  19. There is a way which seemeth just to a man: but the ends thereof lead to death.

  20. And then come, and accuse me, saith the Lord: if your sins be as scarlet, they shall be made as white as snow: and if they be red as crimson, they shall be white as wool.

  21. And now, O ye inhabitants of Jerusalem, and ye men of Juda, judge between me and my vineyard.

  22. What is there that I ought to do more to my vineyard, that I have not done to it? was it that I looked that it should bring forth grapes, and it hath brought forth wild grapes?

  23. Put me in remembrance, and let us plead together: tell if thou hast any thing to justify thyself.

  24. At the same time my reason returned unto me; and for the glory of my kingdom, mine honour and brightness returned unto me; and my counsellors and my lords sought unto me; and I was established in my kingdom, and excellent majesty was added unto me.

  25. Hear the word of the Lord, ye children of Israel, for the Lord shall enter into judgment with the inhabitants of the land: for there is no truth, and there is no mercy, and there is no knowledge of God in the land.
