  1. Thou shalt not enter into league with them, nor with their gods.

  2. Let them not dwell in thy land, lest perhaps they make thee sin against me, if thou serve their gods; which, undoubtedly, will be a scandal to thee.

  3. Beware thou never join in friendship with the inhabitants of that land, which may be thy ruin:

  4. But destroy their altars, break their statues and cut down their groves:

  13. Who walk to go down into Egypt, and have not asked at my mouth, hoping for help in the strength of Pharao, and trusting in the shadow of Egypt.

  14. Woe to them that go down to Egypt for help, trusting in horses, and putting their confidence in chariots, because they are many: and in horsemen, because they are very strong: and have not trusted in the Holy One of Israel, and have not sought after the Lord.

  15. Ephraim is a partaker with idols, let him alone.

  16. Ephraim feedeth on the wind, and followeth the burning heat: all the day long he multiplied lies and desolation: and he hath made a covenant with the Assyrians, and carried oil into Egypt.
