  1. And Jesus walking by the sea of Galilee, saw two brethren, Simon who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea (for they were fishers).

  2. And he saith to them: Come ye after me, and I will make you to be fishers of men.

  3. And they immediately leaving their nets, followed him.

  4. And when Jesus was come into Peter's house, he saw his wife's mother lying, and sick of a fever;

  5. And the names of the twelve Apostles are these: The first, Simon who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother,

  6. And Peter making answer, said: Lord, if it be thou, bid me come to thee upon the waters.

  7. And he said: Come. And Peter going down out of the boat walked upon the water to come to Jesus.

  8. But seeing the wind strong, he was afraid: and when he began to sink, he cried out, saying: Lord, save me.

  9. And immediately Jesus stretching forth his hand took hold of him, and said to him: O thou of little faith, why didst thou doubt?

  10. Simon Peter answered and said: Thou art Christ, the Son of the living God.

  11. And Jesus answering said to him: Blessed art thou, Simon Bar-Jona: because flesh and blood hath not revealed it to thee, but my Father who is in heaven.

  12. And I say to thee: That thou art Peter; and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

  13. And I will give to thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven. And whatsoever thou shalt bind upon earth, it shall be bound also in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth, it shall be loosed also in heaven.

  14. And Peter answering, said to him: Although all shall be scandalized in thee, I will never be scandalized.

  15. Jesus said to him: Amen I say to thee that in this night before the cock crow, thou wilt deny me thrice.

  16. Peter saith to him: Yea, though I should die with thee, I will not deny thee. And in like manner said all the disciples.

  17. And behold one of them that were with Jesus, stretching forth his hand, drew out his sword: and striking the servant of the high priest, cut off his ear.

  18. And Peter followed him afar off, even to the court of the high priest, And going in, he sat with the servants, that he might see the end.

  19. But Peter sat without in the court. And there came to him a servant maid, saying: Thou also wast with Jesus the Galilean.

  20. But he denied before them all, saying: I know not what thou sayest.

  21. And as he went out of the gate, another maid saw him; and she saith to them that were there: This man also was with Jesus of Nazareth.

  22. And again he denied with an oath: I know not the man.

  23. And after a little while, they came that stood by and said to Peter: Surely thou also art one of them. For even thy speech doth discover thee.

  24. Then he began to curse and to swear that he knew not the man. And immediately the cock crew.

  25. And Peter remembered the word of Jesus which he had said: Before the cock crow, thou wilt deny me thrice. And going forth, he wept bitterly.
