  1. This is what the Lord GOD says to these bones: I will cause breath to enter you, and you will come to life.

  2. I will attach tendons to you and make flesh grow upon you and cover you with skin. I will put breath within you so that you will come to life. Then you will know that I am the LORD.’”

  3. So I prophesied as I had been commanded. And as I prophesied, there was suddenly a noise, a rattling, and the bones came together, bone to bone.

  4. As I looked on, tendons appeared on them, flesh grew, and skin covered them; but there was no breath in them.

  5. Then He said to me, “Prophesy to the breath; prophesy, son of man, and tell the breath that this is what the Lord GOD says: Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe into these slain, so that they may live!”

  6. So I prophesied as He had commanded me, and the breath entered them, and they came to life and stood on their feet—a vast army.

  7. To these four young men God gave knowledge and understanding in every kind of literature and wisdom. And Daniel had insight into all kinds of visions and dreams.

  8. During the night, the mystery was revealed to Daniel in a vision, and he blessed the God of heaven

  9. But there is a God in heaven who reveals mysteries, and He has made known to King Nebuchadnezzar what will happen in the latter days. Your dream and the visions that came into your mind as you lay on your bed were these:

  10. I had a dream, and it frightened me; while in my bed, the images and visions in my mind alarmed me.

  11. I, Daniel, was grieved in my spirit, and the visions in my mind alarmed me.

  12. While I, Daniel, was watching the vision and trying to understand it, there stood before me one having the appearance of a man.

  13. I spoke through the prophets and multiplied their visions; I gave parables through the prophets.

  14. This is what the Lord GOD showed me: He was preparing swarms of locusts just after the king’s harvest, as the late spring crop was coming up.

  15. And when the locusts had eaten every green plant in the land, I said, “Lord GOD, please forgive! How will Jacob survive, since he is so small?”

  16. So the LORD relented from this plan. “It will not happen,” He said.

  17. This is what the Lord GOD showed me: The Lord GOD was calling for judgment by fire. It consumed the great deep and devoured the land.

  18. Then I said, “Lord GOD, please stop! How will Jacob survive, since he is so small?”

  19. So the LORD relented from this plan. “It will not happen either,” said the Lord GOD.

  20. This is what He showed me: Behold, the Lord was standing by a wall true to plumb, with a plumb line in His hand.

  21. “Amos, what do you see?” asked the LORD. “A plumb line,” I replied. “Behold,” said the Lord, “I am setting a plumb line among My people Israel; I will no longer spare them:

  22. The high places of Isaac will be deserted, and the sanctuaries of Israel will be laid waste; and I will rise up against the house of Jeroboam with My sword.”

  23. This is what the Lord GOD showed me: I saw a basket of summer fruit.

  24. “Amos, what do you see?” He asked. “A basket of summer fruit,” I replied. So the LORD said to me, “The end has come for My people Israel; I will no longer spare them.”

  25. “In that day,” declares the Lord GOD, “the songs of the temple will turn to wailing. Many will be the corpses, strewn in silence everywhere!”
