  1. Having therefore these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all defilement of flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

  2. So then ye are no more strangers and sojourners, but ye are fellow-citizens with the saints, and of the household of God,

  3. in whom we have boldness and access in confidence through our faith in him.

  4. because to you it hath been granted in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to suffer in his behalf:

  5. For which cause I suffer also these things: yet I am not ashamed; for I know him whom I have believed, and I am persuaded that he is able to guard that which I have committed unto him against that day.

  6. Wherefore also he is able to save to the uttermost them that draw near unto God through him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.

  7. For they indeed for a few days chastened us as seemed good to them; but he for our profit, that we may be partakers of his holiness.

  8. All chastening seemeth for the present to be not joyous but grievous; yet afterward it yieldeth peaceable fruit unto them that have been exercised thereby, even the fruit of righteousness.

  9. to the general assembly and church of the firstborn who are enrolled in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect,

  10. So that with good courage we say, The Lord is my helper; I will not fear: What shall man do unto me?

  11. and the scripture was fulfilled which saith, And Abraham believed God, and it was reckoned unto him for righteousness; and he was called the friend of God.

  12. Confess therefore your sins one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The supplication of a righteous man availeth much in its working.

  13. whereby he hath granted unto us his precious and exceeding great promises; that through these ye may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world by lust.

  14. My little children, these things write I unto you that ye may not sin. And if any man sin, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:

  15. And all that dwell on the earth shall worship him, every one whose name hath not been written from the foundation of the world in the book of life of the Lamb that hath been slain.

  16. And if any was not found written in the book of life, he was cast into the lake of fire.
