  1. And he called ten servants of his, and gave them ten pounds, and said unto them, Trade ye herewith till I come.

  2. But his citizens hated him, and sent an ambassage after him, saying, We will not that this man reign over us.

  3. And it came to pass, when he was come back again, having received the kingdom, that he commanded these servants, unto whom he had given the money, to be called to him, that he might know what they had gained by trading.

  4. And the first came before him, saying, Lord, thy pound hath made ten pounds more.

  5. And he said unto him, Well done, thou good servant: because thou wast found faithful in a very little, have thou authority over ten cities.

  6. And the second came, saying, Thy pound, Lord, hath made five pounds.

  7. And he said unto him also, Be thou also over five cities.

  8. And another came, saying, Lord, behold, here is thy pound, which I kept laid up in a napkin:

  9. for I feared thee, because thou art an austere man: thou takest up that which thou layedst not down, and reapest that which thou didst not sow.

  10. He saith unto him, Out of thine own mouth will I judge thee, thou wicked servant. Thou knewest that I am an austere man, taking up that which I laid not down, and reaping that which I did not sow;

  11. then wherefore gavest thou not my money into the bank, and I at my coming should have required it with interest?

  12. And he said unto them that stood by, Take away from him the pound, and give it unto him that hath the ten pounds.

  13. And they said unto him, Lord, he hath ten pounds.

  14. I say unto you, that unto every one that hath shall be given; but from him that hath not, even that which he hath shall be taken away from him.

  15. But these mine enemies, that would not that I should reign over them, bring hither, and slay them before me.

  16. Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the fold of the sheep, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber.

  17. But he that entereth in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep.

  18. To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out.

  19. When he hath put forth all his own, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice.

  20. And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers.

  21. This parable spake Jesus unto them: but they understood not what things they were which he spake unto them.

  22. I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman.

  23. Every branch in me that beareth not fruit, he taketh it away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he cleanseth it, that it may bear more fruit.

  24. Already ye are clean because of the word which I have spoken unto you.

  25. Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; so neither can ye, except ye abide in me.
