  1. And when David’s young men came, they spake to Nabal according to all those words in the name of David, and ceased.

  2. And Nabal answered David’s servants, and said, Who is David? and who is the son of Jesse? there are many servants now-a-days that break away every man from his master.

  9. behold, I will utterly sweep away Baasha and his house; and I will make thy house like the house of Jeroboam the son of Nebat.

  10. And he made in Jerusalem engines, invented by skilful men, to be on the towers and upon the battlements, wherewith to shoot arrows and great stones. And his name spread far abroad; for he was marvellously helped, till he was strong.

  11. But when he was strong, his heart was lifted up, so that he did corruptly, and he trespassed against Jehovah his God; for he went into the temple of Jehovah to burn incense upon the altar of incense.

  12. He brought streams also out of the rock, And caused waters to run down like rivers.

  13. Yet went they on still to sin against him, To rebel against the Most High in the desert.

  14. He rained flesh also upon them as the dust, And winged birds as the sand of the seas:

  15. And he let it fall in the midst of their camp, Round about their habitations.

  16. So they did eat, and were well filled; And he gave them their own desire.

  17. They were not estranged from that which they desired, Their food was yet in their mouths,

  18. When the anger of God went up against them, And slew of the fattest of them, And smote down the young men of Israel.

  19. For all this they sinned still, And believed not in his wondrous works.

  20. Neither said they, Where is Jehovah that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, that led us through the wilderness, through a land of deserts and of pits, through a land of drought and of the shadow of death, through a land that none passed through, and where no man dwelt?

  21. And I brought you into a plentiful land, to eat the fruit thereof and the goodness thereof; but when ye entered, ye defiled my land, and made my heritage an abomination.

  22. Thou didst also take thy fair jewels of my gold and of my silver, which I had given thee, and madest for thee images of men, and didst play the harlot with them;

  23. and thou tookest thy broidered garments, and coveredst them, and didst set mine oil and mine incense before them.

  24. My bread also which I gave thee, fine flour, and oil, and honey, wherewith I fed thee, thou didst even set it before them for a sweet savor; and thus it was, saith the Lord Jehovah.

  25. Moreover thou hast taken thy sons and thy daughters, whom thou hast borne unto me, and these hast thou sacrificed unto them to be devoured. Were thy whoredoms a small matter,
