  1. because the mind of the flesh is enmity to God, for to the law of God it doth not subject itself,

  2. for neither is it able; and those who are in the flesh are not able to please God.

  3. I did write to you in the epistle, not to keep company with whoremongers--

  4. and not certainly with the whoremongers of this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or idolaters, seeing ye ought then to go forth out of the world--

  5. and such trust we have through the Christ toward God,

  6. not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think anything, as of ourselves, but our sufficiency is of God,

  7. for as many as are of works of law are under a curse, for it hath been written, `Cursed is every one who is not remaining in all things that have been written in the Book of the Law--to do them,'

  8. and that in law no one is declared righteous with God, is evident, because `The righteous by faith shall live;'

  9. And manifest also are the works of the flesh, which are: Adultery, whoredom, uncleanness, lasciviousness,

  10. idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, strifes, emulations, wraths, rivalries, dissensions, sects,

  11. envyings, murders, drunkennesses, revellings, and such like, of which I tell you before, as I also said before, that those doing such things the reign of God shall not inherit.

  12. Also you--being dead in the trespasses and the sins,

  13. in which once ye did walk according to the age of this world, according to the ruler of the authority of the air, of the spirit that is now working in the sons of disobedience,

  14. among whom also we all did walk once in the desires of our flesh, doing the wishes of the flesh and of the thoughts, and were by nature children of wrath--as also the others,

  15. Wherefore, remember, that ye were once the nations in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by that called Circumcision in the flesh made by hands,

  16. that ye were at that time apart from Christ, having been alienated from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers to the covenants of the promise, having no hope, and without God, in the world;

  17. This, then, I say, and I testify in the Lord; ye are no more to walk, as also the other nations walk, in the vanity of their mind,

  18. being darkened in the understanding, being alienated from the life of God, because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the hardness of their heart,

  19. who, having ceased to feel, themselves did give up to the lasciviousness, for the working of all uncleanness in greediness;
