  1. Is it a small thing to you, that the God of Israel has separated you from the congregation of Israel, to bring you near to himself, to do the service of the LORD’s tabernacle, and to stand before the congregation to minister to them;

  2. and that he has brought you near, and all your brothers the sons of Levi with you? Do you seek the priesthood also?

  3. and houses full of all good things, which you didn’t fill, and cisterns dug out, which you didn’t dig, vineyards and olive trees, which you didn’t plant, and you shall eat and be full;

  4. then beware lest you forget the LORD, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

  5. lest, when you have eaten and are full, and have built fine houses, and lived in them;

  6. and when your herds and your flocks multiply, and your silver and your gold is multiplied, and all that you have is multiplied;

  7. then your heart might be lifted up, and you forget the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage;

  8. Because you didn’t serve the LORD your God with joyfulness, and with gladness of heart, by reason of the abundance of all things;

  9. therefore you will serve your enemies whom the LORD sends against you, in hunger, in thirst, in nakedness, and in lack of all things. He will put an iron yoke on your neck, until he has destroyed you.

  10. Also all that generation were gathered to their fathers: and there arose another generation after them, who didn’t know the LORD, nor yet the work which he had worked for Israel.

  11. The children of Israel did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, and served the Baals;

  24. But when he was strong, his heart was lifted up, so that he did corruptly, and he trespassed against the LORD his God; for he went into the LORD’s temple to burn incense on the altar of incense.

  25. He brought streams also out of the rock, and caused waters to run down like rivers.
