  1. In those days also saw I the Jews who had married women of Ashdod, of Ammon, and of Moab:

  2. and their children spoke half in the speech of Ashdod, and could not speak in the Jews’ language, but according to the language of each people.

  9. I have not sat with deceitful men, neither will I go in with hypocrites.

  10. I hate the assembly of evildoers, and will not sit with the wicked.

  11. I hate those who regard lying vanities, but I trust in the LORD.

  12. When you saw a thief, you consented with him, and have participated with adulterers.

  13. My soul is among lions. I lie among those who are set on fire, even the sons of men, whose teeth are spears and arrows, and their tongue a sharp sword.

  14. A perverse heart will be far from me. I will have nothing to do with evil.

  15. I will silence whoever secretly slanders his neighbor. I won’t tolerate one who is haughty and conceited.

  16. My eyes will be on the faithful of the land, that they may dwell with me. He who walks in a perfect way, he will serve me.

  17. He who practices deceit won’t dwell within my house. He who speaks falsehood won’t be established before my eyes.

  18. Thus they provoked him to anger with their deeds. The plague broke in on them.

  19. They served their idols, which became a snare to them.

  20. Yes, they sacrificed their sons and their daughters to demons.

  21. They shed innocent blood, even the blood of their sons and of their daughters, whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan. The land was polluted with blood.

  22. Therefore the LORD burned with anger against his people. He abhorred his inheritance.

  23. He gave them into the hand of the nations. Those who hated them ruled over them.

  24. Their enemies also oppressed them. They were brought into subjection under their hand.

  25. Depart from me, you evildoers, that I may keep the commandments of my God.
