  1. But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:

  2. And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

  3. Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:

  4. That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;

  9. And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.

  10. For such an high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens;

  11. Who needeth not daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifice, first for his own sins, and then for the people's: for this he did once, when he offered up himself.

  12. For the law maketh men high priests which have infirmity; but the word of the oath, which was since the law, maketh the Son, who is consecrated for evermore.

  13. ¶ Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God.

  14. Above when he said, Sacrifice and offering and burnt offerings and offering for sin thou wouldest not, neither hadst pleasure therein; which are offered by the law;

  15. Then said he, Lo, I come to do thy will, O God. He taketh away the first, that he may establish the second.

  16. But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God;

  17. From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool.

  18. Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

  19. For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.

  20. ¶ Ye have not yet resisted unto blood, striving against sin.

  21. But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation;

  22. Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.

  23. Unto you therefore which believe he is precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner,

  24. And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed.

  25. For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:
