Yet they say, The LORD shall not see, neither shall the God of Jacob regard it.
Ye that love the LORD, hate evil: he preserveth the souls of his saints; he delivereth them out of the hand of the wicked.
¶ Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.
Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts:
And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.
¶ My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not.
If they say, Come with us, let us lay wait for blood, let us lurk privily for the innocent without cause:
Let us swallow them up alive as the grave; and whole, as those that go down into the pit:
We shall find all precious substance, we shall fill our houses with spoil:
Cast in thy lot among us; let us all have one purse:
These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him:
A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,
An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief,
A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.
The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.
¶ The labour of the righteous tendeth to life: the fruit of the wicked to sin.
¶ Fools make a mock at sin: but among the righteous there is favour.
¶ Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people.
¶ The way of the wicked is an abomination unto the LORD: but he loveth him that followeth after righteousness.
¶ By mercy and truth iniquity is purged: and by the fear of the LORD men depart from evil.
¶ Who can say, I have made my heart clean, I am pure from my sin?
¶ An high look, and a proud heart, and the plowing of the wicked, is sin.
The thought of foolishness is sin: and the scorner is an abomination to men.
¶ He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.
There is a generation that are pure in their own eyes, and yet is not washed from their filthiness.
