  1. For ye say, Where is the house of the prince? and where are the dwelling places of the wicked?

  9. Thinkest thou this to be right, that thou saidst, My righteousness is more than God's?

  10. If thou be righteous, what givest thou him? or what receiveth he of thine hand?

  11. Thy wickedness may hurt a man as thou art; and thy righteousness may profit the son of man.

  12. His ways are always grievous; thy judgments are far above out of his sight: as for all his enemies, he puffeth at them.

  13. He hath said in his heart, I shall not be moved: for I shall never be in adversity.

  14. ¶ The way of a fool is right in his own eyes: but he that hearkeneth unto counsel is wise.

  15. ¶ There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.

  16. ¶ All the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes; but the LORD weigheth the spirits.

  17. ¶ Most men will proclaim every one his own goodness: but a faithful man who can find?

  18. ¶ Every way of a man is right in his own eyes: but the LORD pondereth the hearts.

  19. ¶ Whoso boasteth himself of a false gift is like clouds and wind without rain.

  20. ¶ It is not good to eat much honey: so for men to search their own glory is not glory.

  21. ¶ Seest thou a man wise in his own conceit? there is more hope of a fool than of him.

  22. ¶ Let another man praise thee, and not thine own mouth; a stranger, and not thine own lips.

  23. ¶ As the fining pot for silver, and the furnace for gold; so is a man to his praise.

  24. ¶ He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.

  25. ¶ He that trusteth in his own heart is a fool: but whoso walketh wisely, he shall be delivered.
