  1. But the house of Israel rebelled against me in the wilderness: they walked not in my statutes, and they despised my judgments, which if a man do, he shall even live in them; and my sabbaths they greatly polluted: then I said, I would pour out my fury upon them in the wilderness, to consume them.

  2. Because they despised my judgments, and walked not in my statutes, but polluted my sabbaths: for their heart went after their idols.

  8. And in controversy they shall stand in judgment; and they shall judge it according to my judgments: and they shall keep my laws and my statutes in all mine assemblies; and they shall hallow my sabbaths.

  9. ¶ Thus saith the Lord GOD; The gate of the inner court that looketh toward the east shall be shut the six working days; but on the sabbath it shall be opened, and in the day of the new moon it shall be opened.

  10. Likewise the people of the land shall worship at the door of this gate before the LORD in the sabbaths and in the new moons.

  11. I will also cause all her mirth to cease, her feast days, her new moons, and her sabbaths, and all her solemn feasts.

  12. Saying, When will the new moon be gone, that we may sell corn? and the sabbath, that we may set forth wheat, making the ephah small, and the shekel great, and falsifying the balances by deceit?

  13. ¶ At that time Jesus went on the sabbath day through the corn; and his disciples were an hungred, and began to pluck the ears of corn, and to eat.

  14. But when the Pharisees saw it, they said unto him, Behold, thy disciples do that which is not lawful to do upon the sabbath day.

  15. But he said unto them, Have ye not read what David did, when he was an hungred, and they that were with him;

  16. How he entered into the house of God, and did eat the shewbread, which was not lawful for him to eat, neither for them which were with him, but only for the priests?

  17. Or have ye not read in the law, how that on the sabbath days the priests in the temple profane the sabbath, and are blameless?

  18. But I say unto you, That in this place is one greater than the temple.

  19. But if ye had known what this meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice, ye would not have condemned the guiltless.

  20. For the Son of man is Lord even of the sabbath day.

  21. And, behold, there was a man which had his hand withered. And they asked him, saying, Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath days? that they might accuse him.

  22. And he said unto them, What man shall there be among you, that shall have one sheep, and if it fall into a pit on the sabbath day, will he not lay hold on it, and lift it out?

  23. How much then is a man better than a sheep? Wherefore it is lawful to do well on the sabbath days.

  24. Then saith he to the man, Stretch forth thine hand. And he stretched it forth; and it was restored whole, like as the other.

  25. But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day:
