O God, thou hast taught me from my youth: and hitherto have I declared thy wondrous works.
Now also when I am old and grayheaded, O God, forsake me not; until I have shewed thy strength unto this generation, and thy power to every one that is to come.
O God, how long shall the adversary reproach? shall the enemy blaspheme thy name for ever?
¶ Remember this, that the enemy hath reproached, O LORD, and that the foolish people have blasphemed thy name.
O deliver not the soul of thy turtledove unto the multitude of the wicked: forget not the congregation of thy poor for ever.
Have respect unto the covenant: for the dark places of the earth are full of the habitations of cruelty.
O let not the oppressed return ashamed: let the poor and needy praise thy name.
Arise, O God, plead thine own cause: remember how the foolish man reproacheth thee daily.
Forget not the voice of thine enemies: the tumult of those that rise up against thee increaseth continually.
Who will rise up for me against the evildoers? or who will stand up for me against the workers of iniquity?
I will early destroy all the wicked of the land; that I may cut off all wicked doers from the city of the LORD.
¶ Not unto us, O LORD, not unto us, but unto thy name give glory, for thy mercy, and for thy truth's sake.
Wherefore should the heathen say, Where is now their God?
¶ Horror hath taken hold upon me because of the wicked that forsake thy law.
¶ It is time for thee, LORD, to work: for they have made void thy law.
¶ Rivers of waters run down mine eyes, because they keep not thy law.
¶ My zeal hath consumed me, because mine enemies have forgotten thy words.
¶ I beheld the transgressors, and was grieved; because they kept not thy word.
¶ They that forsake the law praise the wicked: but such as keep the law contend with them.
And moreover, because the preacher was wise, he still taught the people knowledge; yea, he gave good heed, and sought out, and set in order many proverbs.
The preacher sought to find out acceptable words: and that which was written was upright, even words of truth.
And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.
O house of Jacob, come ye, and let us walk in the light of the LORD.
Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.
For he put on righteousness as a breastplate, and an helmet of salvation upon his head; and he put on the garments of vengeance for clothing, and was clad with zeal as a cloke.
