  1. My head with oil thou didst not anoint: but this woman hath anointed my feet with ointment.

  2. Wherefore I say unto thee, Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much: but to whom little is forgiven, the same loveth little.

  7. And his disciples asked him, saying, What might this parable be?

  8. And he said, Unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God: but to others in parables; that seeing they might not see, and hearing they might not understand.

  9. Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God.

  10. Those by the way side are they that hear; then cometh the devil, and taketh away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved.

  11. They on the rock are they, which, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, which for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away.

  12. And that which fell among thorns are they, which, when they have heard, go forth, and are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to perfection.

  13. But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience.

  14. And Jesus answering said, A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, which stripped him of his raiment, and wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead.

  15. And by chance there came down a certain priest that way: and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side.

  16. And likewise a Levite, when he was at the place, came and looked on him, and passed by on the other side.

  17. But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him,

  18. And went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him.

  19. And on the morrow when he departed, he took out two pence, and gave them to the host, and said unto him, Take care of him; and whatsoever thou spendest more, when I come again, I will repay thee.

  20. Which now of these three, thinkest thou, was neighbour unto him that fell among the thieves?

  21. And he said, He that shewed mercy on him. Then said Jesus unto him, Go, and do thou likewise.

  22. And he said unto them, Which of you shall have a friend, and shall go unto him at midnight, and say unto him, Friend, lend me three loaves;

  23. For a friend of mine in his journey is come to me, and I have nothing to set before him?

  24. And he from within shall answer and say, Trouble me not: the door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed; I cannot rise and give thee.

  25. I say unto you, Though he will not rise and give him, because he is his friend, yet because of his importunity he will rise and give him as many as he needeth.
