  1. And they tempted God in their heart by asking meat for their lust.

  2. Yea, they spake against God; they said, Can God furnish a table in the wilderness?

  3. Behold, he smote the rock, that the waters gushed out, and the streams overflowed; can he give bread also? can he provide flesh for his people?

  4. Therefore the LORD heard this, and was wroth: so a fire was kindled against Jacob, and anger also came up against Israel;

  5. Because they believed not in God, and trusted not in his salvation:

  6. Though he had commanded the clouds from above, and opened the doors of heaven,

  7. And had rained down manna upon them to eat, and had given them of the corn of heaven.

  8. Man did eat angels' food: he sent them meat to the full.

  9. He caused an east wind to blow in the heaven: and by his power he brought in the south wind.

  10. He rained flesh also upon them as dust, and feathered fowls like as the sand of the sea:

  11. And he let it fall in the midst of their camp, round about their habitations.

  12. So they did eat, and were well filled: for he gave them their own desire;

  13. They were not estranged from their lust. But while their meat was yet in their mouths,

  14. The wrath of God came upon them, and slew the fattest of them, and smote down the chosen men of Israel.

  15. For all this they sinned still, and believed not for his wondrous works.

  16. Remember his marvellous works that he hath done; his wonders, and the judgments of his mouth;

  17. Our fathers understood not thy wonders in Egypt; they remembered not the multitude of thy mercies; but provoked him at the sea, even at the Red sea.

  18. He rebuked the Red sea also, and it was dried up: so he led them through the depths, as through the wilderness.

  19. And he saved them from the hand of him that hated them, and redeemed them from the hand of the enemy.

  20. And the waters covered their enemies: there was not one of them left.

  21. Then believed they his words; they sang his praise.

  22. Therefore, behold, I will proceed to do a marvellous work among this people, even a marvellous work and a wonder: for the wisdom of their wise men shall perish, and the understanding of their prudent men shall be hid.

  23. Which hast set signs and wonders in the land of Egypt, even unto this day, and in Israel, and among other men; and hast made thee a name, as at this day;

  24. And hast brought forth thy people Israel out of the land of Egypt with signs, and with wonders, and with a strong hand, and with a stretched out arm, and with great terror;

  25. The king answered unto Daniel, and said, Of a truth it is, that your God is a God of gods, and a Lord of kings, and a revealer of secrets, seeing thou couldest reveal this secret.
