  1. Surely, shall one say, in the LORD have I righteousness and strength: even to him shall men come; and all that are incensed against him shall be ashamed.

  2. In the LORD shall all the seed of Israel be justified, and shall glory.

  3. Hearken unto me, ye stouthearted, that are far from righteousness:

  4. I bring near my righteousness; it shall not be far off, and my salvation shall not tarry: and I will place salvation in Zion for Israel my glory.

  5. My righteousness is near; my salvation is gone forth, and mine arms shall judge the people; the isles shall wait upon me, and on mine arm shall they trust.

  7. ¶ For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

  8. For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.

  9. But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets;

  10. Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:

  11. Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:

  12. Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;

  13. To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.

  14. But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.

  15. Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works,

  16. Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered.

  17. Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.

  18. ¶ Cometh this blessedness then upon the circumcision only, or upon the uncircumcision also? for we say that faith was reckoned to Abraham for righteousness.

  19. How was it then reckoned? when he was in circumcision, or in uncircumcision? Not in circumcision, but in uncircumcision.

  20. And he received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith which he had yet being uncircumcised: that he might be the father of all them that believe, though they be not circumcised; that righteousness might be imputed unto them also:

  21. And the father of circumcision to them who are not of the circumcision only, but who also walk in the steps of that faith of our father Abraham, which he had being yet uncircumcised.

  22. For the promise, that he should be the heir of the world, was not to Abraham, or to his seed, through the law, but through the righteousness of faith.

  23. For if they which are of the law be heirs, faith is made void, and the promise made of none effect:

  24. Because the law worketh wrath: for where no law is, there is no transgression.

  25. Therefore it is of faith, that it might be by grace; to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed; not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham; who is the father of us all,
