  1. Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.

  2. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:

  3. Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.

  4. ¶ Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it.

  5. For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.

  6. For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.

  7. For he spake in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise, And God did rest the seventh day from all his works.

  8. And in this place again, If they shall enter into my rest.

  9. Seeing therefore it remaineth that some must enter therein, and they to whom it was first preached entered not in because of unbelief:

  10. Again, he limiteth a certain day, saying in David, To day, after so long a time; as it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts.

  11. For if Jesus had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day.

  12. There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.

  13. For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.

  14. ¶ Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.

  15. Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him.

  16. But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul.

  17. ¶ Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

  18. For by it the elders obtained a good report.

  19. Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.

  20. Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.

  21. So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.

  22. ¶ My brethren, have not the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory, with respect of persons.

  23. For if there come unto your assembly a man with a gold ring, in goodly apparel, and there come in also a poor man in vile raiment;

  24. And ye have respect to him that weareth the gay clothing, and say unto him, Sit thou here in a good place; and say to the poor, Stand thou there, or sit here under my footstool:

  25. Are ye not then partial in yourselves, and are become judges of evil thoughts?
