  1. So I took the chief of your tribes, wise men, and known, and made them heads over you, captains over thousands, and captains over hundreds, and captains over fifties, and captains over tens, and officers among your tribes.

  2. And the one woman said, O my lord, I and this woman dwell in one house; and I was delivered of a child with her in the house.

  3. And it came to pass the third day after that I was delivered, that this woman was delivered also: and we were together; there was no stranger with us in the house, save we two in the house.

  8. And said to the judges, Take heed what ye do: for ye judge not for man, but for the LORD, who is with you in the judgment.

  9. Wherefore now let the fear of the LORD be upon you; take heed and do it: for there is no iniquity with the LORD our God, nor respect of persons, nor taking of gifts.

  10. Moreover in Jerusalem did Jehoshaphat set of the Levites, and of the priests, and of the chief of the fathers of Israel, for the judgment of the LORD, and for controversies, when they returned to Jerusalem.

  11. And he charged them, saying, Thus shall ye do in the fear of the LORD, faithfully, and with a perfect heart.

  12. And what cause soever shall come to you of your brethren that dwell in their cities, between blood and blood, between law and commandment, statutes and judgments, ye shall even warn them that they trespass not against the LORD, and so wrath come upon you, and upon your brethren: this do, and ye shall not trespass.

  13. And the high priest arose, and said unto him, Answerest thou nothing? what is it which these witness against thee?

  14. But Jesus held his peace. And the high priest answered and said unto him, I adjure thee by the living God, that thou tell us whether thou be the Christ, the Son of God.

  15. Jesus saith unto him, Thou hast said: nevertheless I say unto you, Hereafter shall ye see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.

  16. Then the high priest rent his clothes, saying, He hath spoken blasphemy; what further need have we of witnesses? behold, now ye have heard his blasphemy.

  17. What think ye? They answered and said, He is guilty of death.

  18. ¶ And so Pilate, willing to content the people, released Barabbas unto them, and delivered Jesus, when he had scourged him, to be crucified.

  19. And the soldiers led him away into the hall, called Praetorium; and they call together the whole band.

  20. And they clothed him with purple, and platted a crown of thorns, and put it about his head,

  21. And began to salute him, Hail, King of the Jews!

  22. And they smote him on the head with a reed, and did spit upon him, and bowing their knees worshipped him.

  23. And when they had mocked him, they took off the purple from him, and put his own clothes on him, and led him out to crucify him.

  24. Then stood there up one in the council, a Pharisee, named Gamaliel, a doctor of the law, had in reputation among all the people, and commanded to put the apostles forth a little space;

  25. And said unto them, Ye men of Israel, take heed to yourselves what ye intend to do as touching these men.
