  1. I will also laugh at your destruction, and mocke, when your feare commeth.

  2. Whe your feare cometh like sudden desolation, and your destruction shall come like a whirle wind: whe affliction and anguish shall come vpon you,

  3. Then shall they call vpon me, but I will not answere: they shall seeke me early, but they shall not finde me,

  4. Because they hated knowledge, and did not chuse the feare of the Lord.

  5. They would none of my counsell, but despised all my correction.

  6. Therefore shall they eate of ye fruite of their owne way, and be filled with their owne deuises.

  7. He that hideth his sinnes, shall not prosper: but he that confesseth, and forsaketh them, shall haue mercy.

  8. Blessed is the man that feareth alway: but he that hardeneth his heart, shall fall into euill.

  9. Rise vp, ye women that are at ease: heare my voyce, ye carelesse daughters: hearken to my wordes.

  10. Yee women, that are carelesse, shall be in feare aboue a yeere in dayes: for the vintage shall faile, and the gatherings shall come no more.

  11. Yee women, that are at ease, be astonied: feare, O yee carelesse women: put off the clothes: make bare, and girde sackcloth vpon the loynes.

  12. But this people is robbed and spoiled, and shalbe all snared in dungeons, and they shalbe hid in prison houses: they shall be for a pray, and none shall deliuer: a spoile, and none shall say, Restore.

  13. Who among you shall hearken to this, and take heede, and heare for afterwardes?

  14. Who gaue Iaakob for a spoyle, and Israel to the robbers? Did not ye Lord, because we haue sinned against him? for they woulde not walke in his waies, neither be obedient vnto his Lawe.

  15. Therefore hee hath powred vpon him his fierce wrath, and the strength of battell: and it set him on fire round about, and he knewe not, and it burned him vp, yet he considered not.

  16. Heare me, ye stubburne hearted, that are farre from iustice.

  17. I bring neere my iustice: it shall not be farre off, and my saluation shall not tarie: for I wil giue saluation in Zion, and my glory vnto Israel.

  18. And I sayde, when shee had done all this, Turne thou vnto me: but she returned not, as her rebellious sister Iudah sawe.

  19. When I sawe, howe that by all occasions rebellious Israel had plaied the harlot, I cast her away, and gaue her a bill of diuorcement: yet her rebellious sister Iudah was not afraied, but shee went also, and plaied the harlot.

  20. So that for the lightnesse of her whoredome shee hath euen defiled the lande: for shee hath committed fornication with stones and stockes.

  21. Neuerthelesse for all this, her rebellious sister Iudah hath not returned vnto mee with her whole heart, but fainedly, sayth the Lord.

  22. Heare nowe this, O foolish people, and without vnderstanding, which haue eyes and see not, which haue eares and heare not.

  23. Feare ye not me, saith the Lord? or will ye not be afraide at my presence, which haue placed the sand for the bounds of the sea by the perpetuall decree that it cannot passe it, and though the waues thereof rage, yet can they not preuaile, though they roare, yet can they not passe ouer it?

  24. But this people hath an vnfaithfull and rebellious heart: they are departed and gone.

  25. For they say not in their heart, Let vs nowe feare the Lord our God, that giueth raine both early and late in due season: hee reserueth vnto vs the appointed weekes of the haruest.
