And thou didst forbear with them for many years, and didst testify against them by thy spirit by the hand of thy prophets: and they heard not, and thou didst deliver them into the hand of the people of the lands.
And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape, as a dove, upon him. And a voice came from heaven: Thou art my beloved Son. In thee I am well pleased.
And John gave testimony, saying: I saw the Spirit coming down, as a dove from heaven; and he remained upon him.
And I knew him not: but he who sent me to baptize with water said to me: He upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending and remaining upon him, he it is that baptizeth with the Holy Ghost.
But when the Paraclete cometh, whom I will send you from the Father, the Spirit of truth, who proceedeth from the Father, he shall give testimony of me.
Him hath God exalted with his right hand, to be Prince and Saviour. to give repentance to Israel and remission of sins.
And we are witnesses of these things: and the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to all that obey him.
A long time therefore they abode there, dealing confidently in the Lord, who gave testimony to the word of his grace, granting signs and wonders to be done by their hands.
And God, who knoweth the hearts, gave testimony, giving unto them the Holy Ghost, as well as to us:
And when they agreed not among themselves, they departed, Paul speaking this one word: Well did the Holy Ghost speak to our fathers by Isaias the prophet,
Saying: Go to this people and say to them: With the ear you shall hear and shall not understand: and seeing you shall see and shall not perceive.
For the heart of this people is grown gross, and with their ears have they heard heavily and their eyes they have shut, lest perhaps they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears and understand with their heart and should be converted: and I should heal them.
For the Spirit himself giveth testimony to our spirit that we are the sons of God.
And my speech and my preaching was not in the persuasive words of human wisdom. but in shewing of the Spirit and power:
For our gospel hath not been unto you in word only, but in power also: and in the Holy Ghost and in much fulness, as you know what manner of men we have been among you for your sakes.
God also bearing them witness by signs and wonders and divers miracles and distributions of the Holy Ghost, according to his own will.
For by one oblation he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.
And the Holy Ghost also doth testify this to us. For after that he said:
And he that keepeth his commandments abideth in him, and he in him. And in this we know that he abideth in us by the Spirit which he hath given us.
In this we know that we abide in him, and he in us: because he hath given us of his spirit.
This is he that came by water and blood, Jesus Christ: not by water only but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit which testifieth that Christ is the truth.
And there are Three who give testimony in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost. And these three are one.
And there are three that give testimony on earth: the spirit and the water and the blood. And these three are one.
If we receive the testimony of men, the testimony of God is greater. For this is the testimony of God, which is greater, because he hath testified of his Son.
He that believeth in the Son of God hath the testimony of God in himself. He that believeth not the Son maketh him a liar: because he believeth not in the testimony which God hath testified of his Son.
