  1. Whatsoever you do, do it from the heart, as to the Lord, and not to men:

  2. Knowing that you shall receive of the Lord the reward of inheritance. Serve ye the Lord Christ.

  3. For fornicators, for them who defile themselves with mankind, for menstealers, for liars, for perjured persons, and whatever other thing is contrary to sound doctrine:

  4. Whosoever are servants under the yoke, let them count their masters worthy of all honour; lest the name of the Lord and his doctrine be blasphemed.

  5. But they that have believing masters, let them not despise them, because they are brethren; but serve them the rather, because they are faithful and beloved, who are partakers of the benefit. These things teach and exhort.

  6. Exhort servants to be obedient to their masters: in all things pleasing, not gainsaying:

  7. Not defrauding, but in all things shewing good fidelity, that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Saviour in all things.

  8. Who hath been heretofore unprofitable to thee but now is profitable both to me and thee:

  9. Not now as a servant, but instead of a servant, a most dear brother, especially to me. But how much more to thee, both in the flesh and in the Lord?

  10. Wherefore, when he cometh into the world he saith: Sacrifice and oblation thou wouldest not: but a body thou hast fitted to me.

  11. Behold the hire of the labourers who have reaped down your fields, which by fraud has been kept back by you, crieth: and the cry of them hath entered into the ears of the Lord of Sabaoth.

  12. Servants, be subject to your masters with all fear, not only to the good and gentle but also to the froward.

  13. For this is thankworthy: if, for conscience towards God, a man endure sorrows, suffering wrongfully.

  14. For what glory is it, if, committing sin and being buffeted for it, you endure? But if doing well you suffer patiently: this is thankworthy before God.

  15. For unto this are you called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving you an example that you should follow his steps.

  16. Promising them liberty, whereas they themselves are the slaves of corruption. For by whom a man is overcome, of the same also he is the slave.
