  1. If the world hate you, know ye that it hath hated me before you.

  2. If you had been of the world, the world would love its own: but because you are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.

  8. For what things soever were written were written for our learning: that, through patience and the comfort of the scriptures, we might have hope.

  9. Now the God of patience and of comfort grant you to be of one mind, one towards another, according to Jesus Christ:

  10. And the God of peace crush Satan under your feet speedily. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.

  11. Let no temptation take hold on you, but such as is human. And God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that which you are able: but will make also with temptation issue, that you may be able to bear it.

  12. But he that prophesieth speaketh to men unto edification and exhortation and comfort.

  13. Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and the God of all comfort:

  14. Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we also may be able to comfort them who are in all distress, by the exhortation wherewith we also are exhorted by God.

  15. For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us: so also by Christ doth our comfort abound.

  16. Now whether we be in tribulation, it is for your exhortation and salvation: or whether we be comforted, it is for your consolation: or whether we be exhorted, it is for your exhortation and salvation, which worketh the enduring of the same sufferings which we also suffer.

  17. For we know, if our earthly house of this habitation be dissolved, that we have a building of God, a house not made with hands, eternal in heaven.

  18. But God, who comforteth the humble, comforted us by the coming of Titus.

  19. And he said to me: My grace is sufficient for thee: for power is made perfect in infirmity. Gladly therefore will I glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may dwell in me.

  20. Strengthened with all might according to the power of his glory, in all patience and longsuffering with joy,

  21. For this we say unto you in the word of the Lord, that we who are alive, who remain unto the coming of the Lord, shall not prevent them who have slept.

  22. Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

  23. For which cause comfort one another and edify one another, as you also do.

  24. And we beseech you, brethren, rebuke the unquiet: comfort the feeble minded: support the weak: be patient towards all men.

  25. Exhort your hearts and confirm you in every good work and word.
