  1. You shall make an altar of earth unto me, and you shall offer upon it your holocausts and peace offerings, your sheep and oxen, in every place where the memory of my name shall be: I will come to thee, and will bless thee.

  2. And if thou make an altar of stone unto me, thou shalt not build it of hewn stones; for if thou lift up a tool upon it, it shall be defiled.

  3. Thou shalt not go up by steps unto my altar, lest thy nakedness be discovered.

  4. Thou shalt make also an altar to burn incense, of setim wood.

  5. It shall be a cubit in length, and another in breadth, that is, four square, and two in height. Horns shall go out of the same.

  6. And thou shalt overlay it with the purest gold, as well the grate thereof, as the walls round about, and the horns. And thou shalt make to it a crown of gold round about,

  7. And two golden rings under the crown on either side, that the bars may be put into them, and the altar be carried.

  8. And thou shalt make the bars also of setim wood, and shalt overlay them with gold.

  9. And thou shalt set the altar over against the veil, that hangeth before the ark of the testimony before the propitiatory wherewith the testimony is covered, where I will speak to thee.

  10. And Aaron shall burn sweet smelling incense upon it in the morning. When he shall dress the lamps, he shall burn it:

  11. And when he shall place them in the evening, he shall burn an everlasting incense before the Lord throughout your generations.

  12. You shall not offer upon it incense of another composition, nor oblation, and victim, neither shall you offer libations.

  13. And Aaron shall pray upon the horns thereof once a year, with the blood of that which was offered for sin; and shall make atonement upon it in your generations. It shall be most holy to the Lord.

  14. And therewith thou shalt anoint the tabernacle of the testimony, and the ark of the testament,

  15. And the table with the vessels thereof, the candlestick and furniture thereof, the altars of incense,

  16. He made also the alter of incense of setim wood, being a cubit on every side foursquare, and in height two cubits: from the corners of which went out horns.

  17. And he overlaid it with the purest gold, with its grate, and the sides, and the horns.

  18. And he made to it a crown of gold round about, and two golden rings under the crown at each side, that the bars might be put into them, and the altar be carried.

  19. And the bars themselves he made also of setim wood, and overlaid them with plates of gold.

  20. And the altar of gold, whereon the incense is burnt before the ark of the testimony. Thou shalt put the hanging in the entry of the tabernacle,

  21. And he put also the hanging in the entry of the tabernacle of the testimony,

  22. And the altar of holocaust in the entry of the testimony, offering the holocaust, and the sacrifices upon it, as the Lord had commanded.

  23. And he shall put some of the same blood upon the horns of the altar of the sweet incense most acceptable to the Lord, which is in the tabernacle of the testimony. And he shall pour all the rest of the blood at the foot of the altar of holocaust in the entry of the tabernacle.

  24. And he shall put of the same blood on the horns of the altar that is before the Lord, in the tabernacle of the testimony. And the rest of the blood he shall pour at the foot of the altar of holocaust, which is at the door of the tabernacle of the testimony.

  25. He immolated it: and took the blood, and dipping his finger in it, he touched the horns of the altar round about. Which being expiated, and sanctified, he poured the rest of the blood at the bottom thereof.
