John
Verses Mentioning John
When Jesus therefore understood the Pharisees had heard that Jesus maketh more disciples and baptizeth more than John
You sent to John: and he gave testimony to the truth.
But I have a greater testimony than that of John: for the works which the Father hath given me to perfect, the works themselves which I do, give testimony of me, that the Father hath sent me.
And he went again beyond the Jordan, into that place where John was baptizing first. And there he abode.
And many resorted to him: and they said: John indeed did no sign.
For John indeed baptized with water: but you shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost, not many days hence.
Beginning from the baptism of John, until the day wherein he was taken up from us, one of these must be made a witness with us of his resurrection.
You know the word which hath been published through all Judea: for it began from Galilee, after the baptism which John preached.
And I remembered the word of the Lord, how that he said: John indeed baptized with water but you shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost.
John first preaching, before his coming, the baptism of penance to all the people of Israel.
And when John was fulfilling his course, he said: I am not he whom you think me to be. But behold, there cometh one after me, whose shoes of his feet I am not worthy to loose.
This man was instructed in the way of the Lord: and being fervent in spirit, spoke and taught diligently the things that are of Jesus, knowing only the baptism of John.
And he said: In what then were you baptized? Who said: In John's baptism.
Then Paul said: John baptized the people with the baptism of penance saying: That they should believe in him, who was to come after him, that is to say, in Jesus.
